Cunda is the island which is a state of grace granted by God in the northwestern Aegean Sea off the coast of
Ayvalık. It has been linked to Ayvalık on the mainland by an unnatural causeway for a few years.

When seen from Ayvalık, Cunda has two straits; the left one is Dalyan Strait and the right one is Dolap Strait over which there is a bridge and this bridge is Turkey's first strait bridge as it is known.

Cunda was a district, part of Mytilene Province under the dominance of the Ottoman Empire untill 1908.While its population was approximately ten thousand people in those days, Cunda has now almost two thousand inhabitants.

In summer season, there are alternate boat trips between Cunda and Ayvalık.This voyage is a some kind of fleeting amusement for the ones who seek for relaxation.Besides, you can reach the island by land.
